Perfect for when space is tight If you prefer the style and bass response of a floorstanding speaker but are pushed for space, the Mission QX-3 MKII’s are ideal. Narrower than the smaller QX-2 MKII, these floorstanders are the same width as the baby QX-1 MKII model. What this means is that they don’t take up much floor space yet, thanks to their tall design, still deliver a powerful sound.
Featuring Mission’s ‘ring dome’ tweeter design, these speakers offer the perfect balance of stunning musical detail with a smooth, low distortion output. Thanks to a twin cavity venting system, backpressure is reduced, meaning the treble response can ‘breathe’. The ring dome centre now has a unique and outwardly visible phase plug. The phase plug in these speakers allows for expanded high-frequency reproduction by reducing cancellation within the centre axis of high frequency components created near to the diaphragm’s centre. Offering low resonance and the purest detail, the QX speakers are a class above at the top end.
Improved cone material for even more natural vocals With an improved hybrid blend of soft pulp and acrylic fibre, the seam-free woofer is designed for effortless movement and maximum clarity. For the dynamic thrill you’d expect from Mission speakers, a clever DiaDrive, sub cone system transfers maximum transient impact directly from the motor system – meaning that the crack of a drum is crisp and instantaneous.
Mission have put much work into the QX-Series MKII to reduce distortion. Computer optimised modelling and laser interferometry make this MKII even better than the original. As well as the vented treble unit and DiaDrive woofer, a slot port system enhances airflow leaving the cabinet. Reduced pressure here enhances the low frequency response without introducing distortion. Get a bigger sound from a slimmer speaker, with the Mission QX-3 MKII.
The cone material used on these speakers is an improved acrylic fibre material which is rigid and hard-wearing but gives the speakers a delicate aesthetic. Speakers at this price range typically employ driver materials that can produce a harsh sound. With the QX-3 MKII speakers accurate and natural mid frequency components are delivered due to the use of acrylic fibre. The system is very efficient without compromising high quality and delivers fantastic transient impact.
The top plate has been updated and is crafted from aluminium, which not only looks great but also gives the speakers an increased stability and performance improvement to the speakers’ sleek cabinets.
Inverted Driver Geometry (IDG) is used with the QX-3 MK II, as well as the other QX models. By the positioning of the treble driver underneath the bass/midrange driver, you get an equalised signal path. The result is that the components from both drivers arrive at the same time and at the exact point where the listeners head would be, which improves the audio listening experience. The serrated surrounds have been improved by precise airflow analysis and measurement accuracy, the technology scatters reflections and reduces airflow interference which results in seamless driver and port performance.
